Easter Weekend in Malawi: For God So Loves His Children

Your prayers and gifts helped feed 12,000 Malawian children with physical meals and the gospel throughout Easter weekend! With full stomachs, children heard the gospel, fellowshipped, enjoyed fun activities, and were connected with local churches, where they now have the opportunity to participate in ongoing discipleship.

A young boy named Benjamin was especially excited to participate. In the words of the Malawian pastor working with him:

“Benjamin is a young man full of life. He is one active boy. [He] was everywhere. Be it singing choruses, he was there. Playing football, he was there. And reciting bible verses, there he was. On the 2nd day, he asked for a bible to read at home.”

Benjamin was especially drawn to John 3:16. He shared with the pastor how good it feels to know that God loves his children, which means that God loves him too. He went on to say that his earthly father drinks and regularly beats him and his 4 siblings. He wishes that his dad could be loving like God is. He wishes that his dad knew Christ so that he would treat his own children nicely.

At the same time, Benjamin expressed thankfulness for his mother’s constant encouragement, and said he is grateful to have life, because his family has suffered a lot. Flood waters washed last year’s crops away, and this year’s crop didn’t survive either. But still, he knows that God is the One taking care of him and his family.

Benjamin is now participating in regular discipleship and attending the Friday Kid’s Club.

Please pray that Benjamin becomes a Christlike example for his father, and that his father will come to know Jesus.
