Help 600 Dalit children gain access to a Bible-enriched education before June

Education is an essential key to preventing child labor.

Children at risk do not have to remain victims or only recipients of charity. Through your ongoing partnership, they are seeing themselves as children of God, born for a higher purpose through faith in Jesus Christ. We are assured that God’s word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Through the orphanages you are supporting, children are being discipled to see themselves as agents of change through the gospel in their communities. This is not a quick process. Nor is every child’s story a successful one.

Yet these milestones come about because your prayer and support is helping us connect front-line Christians with resources to alleviate the immediate needs in ministry fields such as at India where Mission to Children has been involved for decades (India is now #11 on the persecution watch list).

We have an urgent need in India

School is starting June 1st and a number of impoverished families in the communities of the orphanages we sponsor can’t afford to send their children to school. UNICEF India informs us that, “Education is a key to preventing child labor and has been one of the most successful methods to reduce child workers in India.”

Many of these poorer families are Dalits, described in the Indian culture as “untouchables.” Regardless of how society defines them, India’s caste system crushes them. But God sees them. He loves them. And we want to touch their lives with Jesus’ love. Across India, there are an estimated 170 million Dalits. The unaffordable costs of education obstruct their access to school for their children and can condemn these children to a life of poverty, forced labor and hopelessness.

We want to raise $36,000 to give 600 children in the communities of our sponsored orphanages access to a Bible-enriched education before this coming June.

Your donation will ensure that at least 600 children in the communities we serve will gain access to an education. $36,000 will cover their admission fees and supplies, books, uniforms, shoes, school bags, and lunches. Today, please help these children at risk become agents of change by gaining a Bible-enriched education and avoiding forced labor.
