God’s presence among the poor through local Christians

After over 45 years, Mission to Children continues to expand the vision of Christians internationally working among the poor with a simple principle: Be courageous, and be present in the lives of those you reach.

One field partner in India shared with us, “Touching the untouchables is Jesus model of ministry. We are inspired to imitate Jesus in our ministry! We need not reinvent any new model for our mission or ministry.”

A Dalit man and his family shared that almost everywhere they go, they are hated and discriminated against … even attacked. Most of the time, they are made to sit on the floor and given their meal after everyone else had finished eating.

But at the outreach meal, this Dalit family felt a sense of security. He felt loved. Dignified. Instead of sitting on the floor, his family sat at a table—and others served them as guests! (This is an example of the gospel challenging the caste system by honoring others.)

In Rajahmundry, outreaches can reach upwards of a thousand or more.

Just as the gospel satisfies the spiritual hungry, a meal reminds the physically hungry that God sees their needs—and is at work among them.

In Romania, our field partner who leads a ministry to Roma children and homeless families, and her team of volunteers, rejoiced as new opportunities to disciple and minister to families in hardship. During the recent Christmas outreach, Laura shared from her heart:

“This was one of the best outreaches ever because I got to spend time individually with each family. This brought the relationships to a new level. I have you to thank!”

Here are some key features of Mission to Children outreaches:

  • We enable indigenous, Christian workers to expand their work among the poor
  • We sponsor outreach meals that provide a tangible context for people to hear the gospel and grow as Christ’s disciples
  • 45+ years of ministry integrity with a Christ-centered message

Your special donation helps enable international outreaches to accomplish two glorious goals: Christ is preached. And the poor are served.

“When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed, because cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” Luke 12:12-14
