Meet Byron: A Heart for Global Ministry

Byron brings over two decades of dedicated experience to his role as CEO and President of Mission to Children. This Christian charity is passionately committed to feeding, evangelizing, and discipling at-risk children around the world through its impactful network partners. Byron also serves on the advisory team of Kingdom Coalition for Kids, a global network focused on investing in God’s children to foster Christ-exalting transformation within their communities.

A Journey Rooted in Cross-Cultural Calling

Byron’s journey began at Biola University, where he earned a BA in Intercultural Studies with a business interdisciplinary in 1998, driven by a desire to embrace globalization. His education at Biola ignited a profound passion for cross-cultural ministry. After graduation, he embarked on a three-month missions trip to Sibiu, Romania, with Greater Europe Mission, where he team-taught English as a second language. This experience in Romania deeply impressed upon him the precious value of the local church. Fueled by this insight, he later led another evangelism team to Alkmaar, Holland, for three months with Greater Europe Mission, with his team serving under the authority of the local Dutch church.

Bridging Professional Skills and Passionate Outreach

Upon returning to the United States, Byron adeptly balanced professional development with his enduring commitment to children’s ministry. He honed his professional skills at a national publishing company, contributing to a web development team that created online curriculum for schools. Yet, his heart remained consistently in outreach to children—and he wondered what that kind of ministry might look like globally. So he continued to dedicate his evenings to volunteering at a residential tutoring center, building meaningful relationships with Hispanic youth and their families, serving as a bridge to the local church. These diverse experiences solidified Byron’s core values: a deep love for the gospel, Scripture, the global church, and cultivating kingdom-minded friendships. And that’s when he was introduced to Mission to Children. After hist first exploratory trip with MTC to Central America, he joined MTC’s team in 2000.
