Charlie Kirk, an Example for Us All

Charlie Kirk, an Example for Us All

Reflections on Charlie Kirk’s memorial service:

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk lived out that conviction.

So many remarks and convictions shared during Charlie Kirk’s memorial service encouraged me. Yet what encouraged me the most was his public and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

Charlie’s faith in Jesus Christ was clearly contagious. Albert Mohler shared on “The Briefing” podcast, “… some of the most important of the comments made came unexpectedly from figures who aren’t known primarily for making theological statements.” Mohler proceeded to quote Tucker Carlson’s remarks, “… he [Charlie] also knew that politics is not the final answer. It can’t answer the deepest questions actually, that the only real solution is Jesus.”

Charlie Kirk’s unwavering commitment to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ was front and center. His faith was publicly recognized by co-workers, friends, family, and even his opponents.

His memorial service inspired me to revisit important life questions that get suppressed by my daily busyness. Does my conduct at work and at home reflect the gracious God Who saved me from eternal wrath? Am I known as a grateful and gracious person whose interaction with others reflects Christ’s humility (Philippians 2:5)? What will I be remembered for?

Another facet of the memorial service made an impression on me: What Charlie lived for, he was also killed for. Charlie shared the gospel on the platforms God gave him. He exemplified what the Apostle Paul wrote to his protégé Timothy, “But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me” (2 Timothy 1:12).

Let’s reflect on a few things. First, Charlie was just 31 years old. It is a joy to see hope kindling—and burning—in the hearts of the next generation, especially among young men like Charlie.

Secondly, consider that Charlie’s sacrifice may have just handed you an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with that hardened individual in your life.

Rarely do we see or hear about God’s righteousness and man’s sin in the news. But now we do. Because of Charlie.
