What a year it’s been for all of us!

December 3, 2020

What a year it’s been for all of us! Throughout these troubling times, Scripture reminds us that God’s presence both calms and reassures because His Word never fails. (God will have the last word!)

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.” Psalm 46:1-3, NASB

Today I want to share with you why I’m even more passionate about our work in the midst of this pandemic.

Every day, the untouchables of India and abandoned children around the world are denied hope due to spiritual, relational, and economic poverty. They’re merely surviving outside the margins of society’s care. And although they survive, they do not really live…because they don’t know Jesus. This is a God-given opportunity to reach them with the gospel. Our opportunity to bring them hope.

We believe this hope starts with Jesus Christ.

Our vision is to bring hope across the developing world through children transformed by the gospel. The gospel can transform the lives of these children and bring hope to their families and their communities.

For over 48 years Mission to Children has been equipping front-line Christians who spread the gospel in word and deed to children in poverty. With your help, we have resourced front-line Christian nationals to launch gospel outreaches that feed thousands of impoverished children in the slums of India, Uganda, Colombia, and the Philippines.

You’ve also helped sponsor a ministry hub in Karnataka, India. According to Operation World, Karnataka has the highest amount of spiritual need in India—a country that’s less than 2.1% Christian. The ministry hub in Karnataka has ministered to vulnerable children through the provision of shelter, meals, clothing, Bible teaching, and education.

During this unprecedented year of 2020, Indian field partners had to rapidly pivot from providing centralized services at the ministry hub to delivering ration kits and essential items to an estimated 5,000 children and family members at home.

Prior to the pandemic, twin sisters Akula and Avala were among the children receiving care, meals, and education at the ministry hub. After the Indian government sent them back home to live with their family, it didn’t take long for trouble to erupt. Their father became enraged, and their grandmother took the young girls and fled.

Where did they go? Right back to the Beracah Ministry Hub.

The director of the Beracah Ministry Hub sympathized:

“When the children’s grandmother shared about this incident, she was crying uncontrollably! As the Apostle Paul said, ‘Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep’ … so we wept.”

Just imagine what their testimonies will be when they grow up!

I want to be a part of what God is doing in their lives—and I hope you do too!

And even beyond our current reach in South India, there are villages and impoverished communities with thousands of children who still need to hear about God’s love and see it in action.

Will you help equip Christian nationals in developing countries like India, so that one generation will proclaim God’s name to the next—and declare His mighty works?

Our year-end goal is $70,000. Will you help us meet it today?

Your prayer and gift can innovate and better equip front-line Christians reaching children with God’s love in 2021.

For God’s glory,

Byron Garmo
